I AM:
- the mother of two daughters
- a native of North Carolina
- a graduate of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
- a published author
- the middle child and only girl in my family of origin
- passionate about community service - particularly with the homeless
- a "Momma's Girl"
- a rabid recycler
- an ardent supporter of public television
- right handed
- a good cook
- a political junkie (thanks to my maternal grandmother)
- athletic
I WAS:
- the governor of NC Girl's State (back in the dark ages)
- a varsity cheerleader in college
- a member of an AAU swim team in high school
- never a beauty queen
I BELIEVE:
- in God and I am a spiritual person
- nothing is impossible
- a good cup of coffee does not have to cost $5
- global warming is real
- in voting
- public libraries are one of our national treasures
I HAVE:
- a very diverse circle of friends
- a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology
- no pets for the first time in 30 years
- no tattoos
I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED:
- to lead and motivate people
- to be a United Nations Ambassador
- to be taller
- to learn how to play the piano
- to learn how to ride a motorcycle
- to travel to more parts of the world
- to complete an Outward Bound course
- to complete a 5k run

I LOVE TO:
- watch my daughters' sports and theater productions
- spend time with my family and friends
- stay up late at night
- begin the day with a reading from 365 Science of Mind by Ernest Holmes
- meditate
- eat anything chocolate
- help people solve their problems
- be in and near water
- write
- read
- write letters in longhand
- have great, engaging conversations
- meet new people
- shop in secondhand stores, bargain basements, and hardware stores
- grab a late night hamburger at The Apple Pan
